Coaching Services

Barb Leininger holds a USATF Level 1 Coaching Certificate. She has been coaching runners for over 10 years, including stints at Northwest Athletic Club and ClubRun Minneapolis. Barb's running credits include 57 marathons with a PR of 3:19 and countless 5k, 10k, and half-marathon races. Barb has also recently completed several triathlons and enjoys working with triathletes looking to improve the running leg of their events.

Coaching Philosophy

One of the beauties of running is that you can do it any time, when and where it works best for you. Running Ventures has developed its coaching services to provide runners with the flexibility to select the approach best suited to their training needs, taking into account the realities of work, family, and life in general.

Customized Individual Training Plans

This is an individual written training plan developed specifically to help you achieve your goals. It includes an initial one on one coaching session where you will do a workout designed to assess your current running fitness level and form. Information on your own history of current conditioning, running goals, and time available on a weekly basis to commit to implementing the training program is then combined with the information from the one on one session to develop your customized training plan. The written program will include at least two days a week of detailed workouts. You choose the length of the program, taking into account your goals. It is up to you to implement the plan, giving you the complete flexibility to determine when and where to run.

Customized Group Training Packages

Custom plans are also available for groups of 2 - 5 runners. If you have a crew who would like to train together for the same event, Running Ventures will create a written training plan taking into account the current conditioning, running history, and goals of the members of your group. The written program will include at least two days a week of detailed workouts. Group package includes at least one time trial to assess current training paces and suggested running routes. Members also have unlimited e-mail access to coach. Group training plans are 14 - 16 weeks in duration.
